How to play Andar Bahar: Rules, bet, payouts, and odds

In Andar Bahar, the dealer places a face-up card, and the player bets on either the inside or outside pile. The dealer then deals cards alternately to the two piles until a card appears that matches the initial card.

The first card is dealt to the Andar pile if the house card is black. Meanwhile, the first card is dealt to the Bahar pile if the house card is red. The deal continues until a card appears that matches the rank of the house card. 

Players who bet on the pile where this matching card appears to win, while those who bet on the other pile lose. The minimum and maximum bets are determined by the house in a casino game but can be agreed in advance in a private game.

If the chosen card appears on the side where the first drawn card was dealt, the payout will be at odds of 0.9 to 1. If it falls on the other side, the payout is at odds of 1 to 1 (evens). Therefore, the colour of the house card determines where the first card is dealt, such as:

Katti

Katti is another Andar Bahar variant wherein the dealer starts by dealing a row of 13 cards facing up. Each of the players can choose any card in the row and bet on the Andar (inside pile) or Bahar (outside pile) for that card. When the initial bets have been placed, any player can bet that a particular play by other players will lose.

Afterward, the dealer deals with the next card from the pack, which is called the indicator card. Its colour defines which bets will win and which will lose. Therefore, it can be observed as:

• The winning side for the first card in the row will be the same side as that player’s bet if the indicator card is black.
• The winning side for the first card in the row will be the opposite side from that player’s bet if the indicator card is red.
